

Dr Raymond Piggott
Role: General Practitioner
Dr Raymond Piggott graduated from National University of Ireland, Galway in 1982. He then went on to train in General Practice in the West of Ireland followed by one year of training in England and finished his training in 1986. Dr Raymond and Dr Maire set up Gort Family Practice in 1987 originally operating from The Square Gort and finally moving to our current premises on Church Street in 2005. Dr Raymond Piggott is a trainer with the Western GP Training Scheme and is passionate about medical education. Fun fact: You will see Dr Raymond wearing a Christmas themed tie every day of December!

Dr Máire Marren Piggott
Role: General Practitioner
Dr Maire Marren Piggott graduated from National University of Ireland, Galway in 1981. She progressed to specialise in General Practice and completed her training in 1986. Dr Maire (along with Dr Raymond) set up Gort Family Practice in 1987 originally operating from The Square Gort and finally moving to our current premises on Church Street in 2005.

Dr Lorraine Mulkerrins
Role: General Practitioner
Dr Lorraine Mulkerrins graduated from National University of Ireland, Galway in 2004.
Special Interests: Women’s Health, Long Acting Reversible Contraceptives (Implanon, coil insertion and removal and follow up care; Dr Lorraine is also a LARC Tutor and supervises our trainee in perfecting their skills in this field), Paediatrics, Menopausal Health, Dermatology

Dr Joan O’Halloran
Role: General Practitioner
Dr Joan O’Halloran studied in National University of Ireland, Galway and followed on to complete her General Practitioner training on the Donegal GP Training Scheme in 2013. She joined Gort Family Practice in 2019 after spending 7 years working in Sydney, Australia.

Dr Hilary Jane Hamilton
Role: General Practitioner
Dr Hilary Hamilton graduated from University College Dublin in 2005.

Margaret McGrath
Role: Practice Nurse
Margaret (or Mags) graduated in 1999 from Mater Misericordiae Hospital. She is a registered general nurse. She also has post graduate diplomas in Diabetes Management, Cardiovascular Risk Management and Clinical Research. Mags is qualified and trained in: Phlebotomy and Venesection, INR testing and follow up, Immunisations, Blood Pressure management, Wound Care, Chronic Disease Management, Cervical Smears.
